Ship Builders Axe
A shipwright's tool, the ship builder's axe came in a variety of shapes and sizes. The shape of the blade depended on the function of the axe. The edge of the blade was either straight or curved, most being curved; The angle of the blade also varied depending on whether hard or softer wood was to be cut. A thinner blade was required for the hardest woods. Ours also has a hammer poll as did many of the originals.
The head is 4 inches along the cutting edge and 6 inches long across the top of the blade.

Ship Builder's Hawk
If you are looking for a great hawk H&B Forge is hands down the best you are going to find. Worth every penny. Absolutely beautiful. Excellent craftsmanship. Fit to the handle is like it grew there. The metal work is of exceptional quality. This is one fine bearded hawk. Well pleased. This is art that works as good as it looks. I ordered 04 July and received the finished hawk the around 20 December. You cannot rush this kind of work and it was well worth the wait. Perfect for an outdoors enthusiast. Not to heavy very packable and a sturdy tool. The blade takes a good edge and keeps it. I have purchased other cheaper hawks but they do not compare to the quality of the H&B Forge pieces.
