Jarrod Is Back

Jarrod is back home and hard at the forge again. He arrived home last Wednesday about 10:30 am and the forge was hot by 11! Many of you may already know that Will was was on a terrible motorcycle accident in 2002. He was life-flighted and not expected to survive. But after a few days he showed them all the will power and fortitude and stubbornness that would keep him alive for 10 1/2 more years. He spent 3 months in the hospital and 4 more months in a hospital bed in out living room. There were countless surgeries and setbacks but he never gave up. It was his dream to be able to go hunting again and 2 years later he did just that. Not only was he able to go but God blessed him even more by allowing him to call in and kill a giant moose. It was the biggest one that outfitter had ever had taken out of his camp. You never saw anyone more proud! He was able to go a few more times but eventually the COPD made breathing too difficult to manage the rough terrain and he refused to go “if I can’t carry my own weight.” He has been gone from us nearly 3 years now but all the years after he stopped going he waited on pins and needles for word from the guys. He wanted to know if they got a bull and how big it was. And always he allowed himself a wee bit of quiet boasting when he found that the new kill was not as big as his!! This year one of the guys shot a medium sized bull moose early in the week. A few days later Jarrod called in a huge one. He said it may have even been bigger than the one Will shot. But, because they only had one bull tag, he wasn’t allowed to shoot. It was only about 40 yards away! I feel badly for him but give a little private smile and whisper, “Well honey, you’re still top dog!”
